Emma Posada (formerly Emma Edghill) is an artist of dual citizenship of both Canada and Barbados, whose work explores the nature of overlooked landscapes and constructed representations by means of painting.

As an emigrant from Barbados, a small Caribbean island revered for its idyllic landscape, mental perceptions of home and the unknown have been a recurring source of pivotal interest. While tourist destinations have advocated their beauty and presence through media, she predominantly explores the by-passed landscapes of Barbados and Canada, dividing her concern between place as home, and land as marketed product. Land, water and sky transcribed as a testimony of human trace and involvement, and of energetic presence. Combining real locations with personal memories of each site and utopian imaginations, she strives to bridge the gap between the imaginary and the real, manifesting the estranged in a familiar but alluring light.

Emma has attended the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, where she has attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in Drawing and Painting, in addition to a minor in Art History. She continues to explore the many facets of land in her spare time, beyond its demarcated boundaries. Emma particularly enjoys exploring the landscapes of British Columbia, Canada, where she now currently resides, as well as landscapes of new places during her international travel & adventuring.
